Kochia Field Festival in Ibaraki

Mid-October marks the high season for the Kochia fields at Hitachi Seaside Park in Ibaraki Prefecture. This stunning natural attraction is easily accessible for a day trip from Tokyo.

How to get there: From Ueno Station, take the LTD. Exp Hitachi train to Katsuta Station, which takes about 74 minutes (JR Pass is valid, and seat reservations are recommended). From Katsuta Station, take a bus directly to the park.

Admission + round-trip bus fare: 1,020 yen per person, tickets can be purchased at the bus stop.

Park opening hours: 9:30 AM - 5:00 PM.
