Purpose:
- Shop for Vietnamese goods!
- Enjoy Vietnamese cuisine!
- Stay at a stylish hotel!
Schedule:
Day 1:
It takes about 6 hours to travel from Tokyo to Ho Chi Minh City. From the airport, take a taxi to the Chloe Gallery, a hotel that looks like a castle. It is located in a calm area, different from the bustling downtown, in District 7 of Ho Chi Minh City. Within walking distance, there is a mall called Crescent Mall with various shops. The hotel itself has many Instagram-worthy spots, including the front desk, hall, and staircase! Plus, you can stay in a suite for around 20,000 yen per room.
Day 2:
Depart in the morning for a boat cruise on the Mekong Delta. It has a jungle cruise-like atmosphere, and the boat is a small hand-rowed one. In the evening, we went to see a water puppet show. It’s more about enjoying the songs and atmosphere rather than understanding the words. If you understand Vietnamese, it might offer a different experience.
Day 3:
Shopping at Ben Thanh Market. It’s quite large and offers not only food but also items like bags and sandals. There’s also an area where you can enjoy local cuisine. Then, we moved to Dong Khoi Street, which has many shops and is a fun place to pick out Vietnamese goods. It’s a recommended area for a girls’ trip. There are also many spa shops where you can enjoy massages at reasonable prices. Afterward, we returned to the hotel and took a night flight back home.
Cuisine:
Vietnamese dishes like pho and rice paper-based dishes are a must-try. Banh xeo, which is like a savory pancake, is also recommended. Coconut is a local specialty, and tropical fruits are delicious as well.
Hotel:
Chloe Gallery is about a 20-minute taxi ride from central areas like Dong Khoi. Because of this, it’s not convenient for quick returns to the room. However, the atmosphere is incredibly charming, stylish, and reasonably priced. It’s located in an area where you won’t find many Japanese tourists. The pool is also luxurious.
Tips:
- Be cautious of heatstroke.
- Watch out for pickpockets, especially in markets.
