In summer, the lotus ponds bloom everywhere, turning the valleys into a sea of pink and green. I walked along narrow dikes surrounded by flowers, dragonflies hovering over the petals. The mountains behind looked unreal against the clear sky. The scent of lotus filled the air, sweet and light — it’s one of those scenes that feels almost too beautiful to be real.
