Van Long felt like Ninh Binh’s quiet secret. It’s less visited than Tam Coc, but just as stunning — wide wetlands, birds flying low, and the mountains reflected in still water. My guide rowed slowly with her feet, steering between reeds and rock walls. We didn’t speak much, and we didn’t need to. The silence said everything.
