After work, I went to Causeway Bay for some shopping and was considering what to eat when I unexpectedly found that my favorite Green Tea Restaurant had opened a branch in Hysan Place.
The decor is stunning, with a strong Chinese garden vibe, filled with lush green plants that give a natural feel. It's clear that a lot of thought went into the restaurant's design.
I ordered through a QR code, choosing three dishes and a dessert.
Longjing Roast Chicken $138
The moment it was served, the aroma of tea filled the air. The chicken was smoked with Longjing tea leaves in a wooden pot. The chicken was golden and crispy, with tender meat, and the skin was thin, so it wasn't too fatty.
Scholar's Taro Pot $88
The taro was sliced thinly by hand and layered with pork belly, topped with fresh green onions. The aroma was enticing. The taro was soft and smooth, and the pork belly was rich and flavorful. It was delicious on its own or with rice.
Shrimp Soup Rice $88
Served piping hot, the orange-yellow shrimp soup was rich and sweet. It contained bits of greens and shrimp. Adding crispy rice before eating gave it a delightful crunch. For $88, the portion and quality were satisfying.
Jiangnan Victory Cake $28
These small, delicate cakes came in four flavors: green tea, custard, red bean, and sesame. They had a pleasant rice fragrance and a chewy texture.
Osmanthus Chestnut Sweet Soup $58
Autumn and winter are the best seasons for chestnuts. The osmanthus syrup added a sweet aroma. This simple yet tasty dessert was delightful.
West Lake Osmanthus Lotus Root Starch $28
This pudding-like dessert wasn't too sweet and was refreshing and light.
When paying the bill, the waiter mentioned that the restaurant offers a free Jiangnan Green Tea Cake with lunch specials or you can try their new exclusive tea drinks. With such great service, I'll definitely come back next time I'm in the area!
