A Peak That Won't Disappoint!

After traversing a shady forest, you will reach an open, grassy hillside. At this point, you can take in the stunning views of Phoenix Mountain and the white sandy beaches of the island's southern coast. To your right is Cheung Sha Beach, the longest beach in Hong Kong, stretching 3 kilometers. Looking out to sea, you will see high-speed ferries traveling between Hong Kong and Macau, navigating between Lantau Island and the distant Soko Islands.
On the grassy plateau opposite Tai Tung Shan, there are 19 mysterious stone cottages scattered around. These 'Lantau Camps' were built in the 1920s as holiday homes for missionaries. Back then, supplies and drinking water had to be transported up the mountain from Mui Wo. Today, these cottages are still occasionally used. When you climb the rock next to the first cottage on the right, you can clearly see the expansive view of the plateau. Hidden below the hillside is a rainwater pool built by the missionaries for swimming during the hot summer months.
