Sunset Peak, also known as Tai Tung Shan, is famous for its magnificent sunset views and the silver-white silvergrass covering its slopes. Every autumn, the hills are swaying with silvergrass in the wind, reflecting the golden sunset, creating a poetic and picturesque scene that attracts countless photography enthusiasts and couples. Although the climb to Sunset Peak is relatively steep and requires some physical strength, once you reach the summit and admire the breathtaking scenery, all your fatigue will vanish.

Besides the enchanting autumn colors, the summit of Sunset Peak is scattered with some historic stone houses, which were once summer villas for foreign missionaries, adding a touch of historical charm to this natural landscape. From the top, you can enjoy a wide view of Hong Kong International Airport and the surrounding islands.

The main route to Sunset Peak starts from Pak Kung Au, ascending along the second section of the Phoenix Trail. Although this route is steep, the trail condition is decent. Another route starts from Mui Wo, which is longer but has a gentler slope. Whichever route you choose, it is recommended to wear comfortable hiking shoes and bring enough water and food. The sunset view at Sunset Peak is a unique natural wonder in Hong Kong, definitely worth your time and effort to experience in person.
