Hong Kong Hiking: Tai Yam Teng on Lantau Island (Try the New Route)

Tai Yam Teng is located between Fa Ping Teng and Chek Lap Kok Road, with an elevation of less than 200 meters. In recent years, a new concrete staircase has been built connecting to Chek Lap Kok Road.

Starting from Sunny Bay Station, follow the map through the tunnel and cross Chek Lap Kok Road. Then, ascend the mountain via the water channel steps to connect to the newly built staircase.

The view along the way is generally ordinary until you get near the summit, where it opens up and you can see a panoramic view of Disneyland/Disney Inspiration Lake.

The distance post of Tai Yam Teng is not on the trail. You need to walk about 20 meters off the trail at the highest point to reach it. The distance post is a great spot to enjoy the view of the Lung Kwu Tan area.

After reaching the summit, returning to Sunny Bay Station is relatively easy. For those seeking a challenge, you can continue to Fa Ping Teng, where some sections are quite steep and have loose gravel.
