"Casual Solo Steamed Seafood in Causeway Bay"

After work, a colleague took me to Causeway Bay to eat steamed seafood. We came to his favorite spot, Chuen Wo. I've had steamed seafood before, but the environment here feels a bit like a ramen shop—pull down the curtain, and you have your own little corner, semi-private yet still intimate.

We ordered two set meals: Jiupin Sesame and Bafu Xun'an. The biggest difference between the two sets is that one includes razor clam king and lobster.

Jiupin Sesame set includes:
Salad
Takoyaki
White clams, shrimp, fresh fish slices, large clams, flat razor clams, abalone.
US fatty beef, pork slices
Three treasure balls (beef bone broth beef balls, ginger century egg meatballs, signature cuttlefish balls)
Vegetable platter

Bafu Xun'an set includes:
Salad
Dumplings and sesame chicken wings
White clams, shrimp, northern scallops, abalone
Scallops, flat razor clams, fresh fish slices, lobster, and
One razor clam king
Angus beef, pork slices
Three treasure balls (beef bone broth beef balls, ginger century egg meatballs, signature cuttlefish balls)
Vegetable platter

The seafood is incredibly fresh; the shrimp and abalone are crisp and bouncy. The shellfish are plump and sweet. My lobster was small but bursting with roe!

There are instructions on the table for how many minutes to steam each type of seafood—just follow them, and you won’t go wrong. The three treasure balls are delicious, each with its own unique flavor, especially the ginger century egg meatballs, where the ginger paste bursts out, very rich!

The sets may seem small, but we kept steaming and eating for over two hours. With the meat and vegetables, it was actually quite enough! Finally, we used the leftover steaming water to make congee and rice noodles, full of fresh flavor and very satisfying!

Seafood lovers, you really can’t miss this steamed seafood place!!
