For Waffle's birthday dinner, we went to "Yotei" at Waffle's suggestion.
We had a reservation for 8 PM, but around 7:35 PM, we received a call from the restaurant saying they might not be available until 8:15 PM. We arrived at around 8:15 PM and had to wait for the previous group of customers to leave before being seated.
The restaurant specializes in Genghis Khan lamb.
I listened carefully to the waiter's introduction to the menu.
After ordering, we were served a secret bonito and lamb sauce. You can add garlic and chili powder to the sauce to your taste, and you can add salt to the side of the dish for seasoning.
The appetizer was a yuzu vinaigrette onion salad, which was sour and refreshing.
The Shizuoka Candied Tomatoes ($78) were served with the plum jelly below; the tomatoes weren't as sweet as expected.
The waiter preheated the grill pan and grilled the onions. It cost $25 per person.
The homemade lamb dumplings ($78) are fresh and spicy, but be careful not to burn them. The thin wrapper and delicious, juicy filling are no wonder they're so popular.
We ordered the Premium Australian Lamb Tongue ($228), Premium Lamb Sirloin ($248), and Lamb Rump ($168). We didn't have to cook them ourselves, but the restaurant's ventilation system needs improvement.
The first small piece of lamb tongue had a texture similar to chicken kidney and was very crisp.
The chef prepared to cook the lamb belly for the Goat Hoof and Goat Meat Kamaboshi ($580).
The Goat Hoof and Goat Meat Kamaboshi is limited daily and requires reservations.
When we ordered, the waiter explained the cooking process. I didn't pay attention, but I remember that the rice was cooked in lamb broth. It was a sincere and delicious creation.
To finish, we ordered two ice creams with Hokkaido Tokachi red bean paste. The ice cream came in matcha and tofu flavors, and I personally preferred the tofu ice cream.
