Sam Tung Uk Museum, located in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong, is a Hakka walled village with over 200 years of history and was declared a declared monument in 1981. The museum's architectural layout is symmetrically arranged like a chessboard, with a front hall, central hall, and ancestral hall in the center, flanked by independent living quarters, showcasing the characteristics of a traditional Hakka village.
For a half-day tour, it is recommended to start at the museum's exhibition hall to learn about the history of Tsuen Wan and Hakka culture, and to appreciate antique furniture, handicrafts, and farming tools. Then, join a guided tour to explore the architectural features of the walled village and the lifestyle of its residents in depth. Additionally, the museum houses the Hong Kong Intangible Cultural Heritage Centre, where visitors can experience traditional skills through exhibitions and workshops, such as dim sum making, mahjong manufacturing, wedding customs, and flower card crafts.
Moreover, the museum regularly holds workshops, such as lion head tying demonstrations and dim sum making experiences, allowing visitors to personally engage in traditional crafts.
