Kowloon Walled City Park is located on Tung Tsing Road in Kowloon City, covering an area of 31,000 square meters. It is a historical landmark for in-depth travel in Hong Kong, built on the original site of the former Kowloon Walled City. This military fortress, constructed by the Qing government in 1847, was once the most densely populated "no-man's land." After its demolition in 1994, it was transformed into a garden park styled after Jiangnan gardens. The park features eight major scenic areas, such as "Nanmeng Nostalgia" and "Yamen Reminiscence," preserving the remains of the South Gate, granite stone plaques, and Qing dynasty yamen. Through bronze models and audiovisual displays, the legendary stories of the Walled City are brought back to life.
The park’s Red Leaf Trail and Lotus Pond create a serene atmosphere, while the Six Arts Terrace offers calligraphy experiences, perfect for quietly appreciating Chinese culture. Starting from May 24, 2025, the park will launch the "Kowloon Walled City Light and Shadow Tour" movie scene exhibition, recreating scenes from "The Siege of Kowloon Walled City." It will be free to the public for three years, attracting film fans and history enthusiasts.
Nearby are the Hau Wong Temple and Kowloon City Market, continuing the exploration of local cuisine and faith. Kowloon Walled City Park, with its historical relics and garden beauty, offers travelers a retreat from the hustle and bustle, delving deep into Hong Kong’s poignant stories and cultural pulse.
