The last remaining Hong Kong iron mine entrance

Address – Old Iron Mine Site, Ma On Shan
Environment/Facilities – Dense jungle
Feature – Hidden scenic spot
Average Price – Free
Rating – 7 out of 10
On the way from Ma On Shan Country Park to the Ma On Shan Exploration Gallery, you will pass a T-junction with a brown sign. One direction leads to Heng On Estate, the other to Ngong Ping. Walk less than 20 meters towards Ngong Ping, and on the left side by the bushes, there is a low stone railing. Cross over the stone railing and head into the bushes, walking straight for about 5 minutes to reach the old iron mine entrance. Due to long-term neglect and abandonment, the entrance has been sealed off, and visiting inside is not recommended as it may be dangerous. However, it is still worth seeing the original appearance of the Ma On Shan mine from earlier years. Nearby, there are also two abandoned mine buildings that have been deserted for many years, which are still worth a visit.
