Located in Ngong Ping, Lantau Island, Hong Kong, Lotus Pond Temple is just a 10-minute walk from the famous Po Lin Monastery. As one of the earliest temples established in Ngong Ping, its history predates that of Po Lin Monastery. According to the "Gazetteer of Lantau Island," the temple was originally named "Lotus Pond Hermitage" and was founded by Master Shiru in 1917, though the temple's official website records its establishment in 1921. The current main hall was rebuilt in the late 1970s, featuring side staircases, a central lotus pond, and a tiled roof with flying eaves that add a majestic aura to the temple.
Visitors can enjoy a distant view of the Big Buddha from Lotus Pond Temple. Additionally, the surrounding hiking trails offer breathtaking natural scenery, making it an ideal place where spirituality meets nature.
**Transportation**: Take the Ngong Ping 360 cable car to reach the temple.
