After returning from Taiwan, my first meal out was to enjoy the debut Afternoon Tea! The floral and fruity aroma made both me and Dad feel so relaxed.
The location is none other than the Lobby Café inside the Hopewell Hotel, which just opened last year! The restaurant is bright and sunny, making it a perfect spot for afternoon tea.
Finally, the hotel has launched its first afternoon tea set! Named "Floral Whisper Afternoon Tea," it is elegantly presented in a delicate floral wooden box, which I absolutely adore.
In addition to coffee or tea, you can upgrade to a special drink for an extra $40. The signature drinks are crafted with care and are definitely worth trying.
The "Valley of the Wind" immediately reminded me of a certain animation! This three-layered drink combines melon, green apple, yogurt, and butterfly pea flower milk. The blue sky, white clouds, and ocean are all captured in this cup, offering a visually stunning and smooth, not overly sweet taste.
The "Peach Tea" is made with my favorite Earl Grey and jasmine tea! Paired with peach puree, orange juice, and lemon juice, it delivers a sweet and tangy, refreshing flavor.
The afternoon tea set includes four savory and four sweet items, paired with English scones. Each item is generously portioned and beautifully presented.
There’s even a photo-worthy element for guests! The small box comes with dry ice, creating a misty effect that adds a touch of ceremony to the tea set.
The four savory items are ready to impress! First, the curry chicken sandwich. The soft texture of the sandwich was delightful, and the fragrant, mildly spiced curry chicken filling was truly delicious.
The watermelon crab meat jelly is perfect for summer! The sweet and juicy watermelon paired with flavorful crab meat is incredibly refreshing. The combination of sweet and savory flavors is a delightful surprise, making it a charming savory treat.
The slow-cooked scallop tart with yuzu and mango salsa is small yet exquisite! The tart base remains crispy, while the creamy scallop filling mixed with yuzu and mango salsa offers a sweet and tangy flavor that’s very appealing.
The wild mushroom cube with kale breadcrumbs looks as refined as a dessert! The vegetable aroma of the outer layer is refreshing, and the mushroom-filled interior leaves a lingering taste.
Moving on to the sweet treats, let’s start with the English raisin scones! The scones have a good balance of moisture and dryness, and spreading clotted cream and jam on them is always satisfying.
The four sweet items are all so elegant! Which one would you try first?
I chose the snowy white coconut crisp! The double-layered crispy base hides a roasted coconut caramel nut filling. It’s not only rich in texture but also carries a sweet nutty flavor. The coconut mousse on top is light and smooth with a subtle coconut aroma, making it irresistibly delicious.
The Japanese Amanatsu orange cake is incredibly soft! Paired with orange blossom jam, it’s a delightful treat that makes you want an encore.
The almond cream passion fruit cake resembles a delicate wagashi! The smooth almond mousse encases passion fruit ganache and sponge cake, offering a sweet and charming flavor that’s unforgettable.
The lime pineapple puff is sure to win my heart! The homemade dried pineapple slice on top is super crispy, and the puff filled with lime pineapple custard is both adorable and delicious, making it hard to resist.
The Floral Whisper Afternoon Tea is priced at $468 for two (+10% service charge) and is available daily from 2:30 PM to 5:30 PM until December 30. Members of the Hopewell Club app, HSBC credit cardholders, American Express cardholders, and Citibank ULTIMA and Prestige credit cardholders can enjoy a 15% discount.
