Learn about the development history of Hong Kong Kowloon-Canton Railway

Not to mention, the original Fanling-Sha Tau Kok branch line was officially opened in 1912. It is 7.25 miles long and has three stops in the middle. Passengers need to crowd on uncovered cars and face the sun and rain. With the completion of the Sha Tau Kok Highway, this branch line was officially closed after only 17 years of operation. It was propelled by narrow-gauge steam locomotives, but the locomotives ceased operation soon after the branch line closed. Today, this meaningful locomotive is on display in the Hong Kong Railway Museum in Tai Po Market, and there are several exhibition halls and train car exhibits in the museum, detailing the history of railway development over the years, which is really eye-opening.
