Hualien|Eat Hot Pot

Spicy Three Treasures Hot Pot $390

This place has been on my radar for a while now, but Hualien has always been a bit delicious, and this time it's finally your turn. We arrived right after it opened in the evening. We didn't have a reservation, but there was no wait. The restaurant is small, but the decor is quite unique.

The menu looks extensive, but it's really just a choice of spiciness. You can help yourself to the sauces, rice, and drinks from the sideboard. The food arrived shortly after ordering.

Each person gets their own hot pot, which has a hint of charcoal aroma. The portion is actually quite generous, with two large pieces of beef, as well as beef slices, tripe, tendon, duck blood, and some vegetables. The two pieces of beef are thick and generous, with a firm, tender texture—very good. The tripe and tendon are also very tender, though the slices need a little more bite, but still good.

Since I was dining alone, I ended up sharing a table with another customer. The hostess said they rarely share tables. Because the pot is cooked over charcoal, your clothes will have a slight charcoal aroma after eating.
