Nestled along the northeastern coast of Hualien, Qixingtan Beach is more than just a scenic stop—it’s a sensory experience carved by nature and echoed by the roar of jets overhead.
The moment I stepped onto the black sand, I felt its unexpected softness beneath my feet—smooth like sifted charcoal, cool against the skin. The wind here doesn’t whisper; it sings. Strong gusts sweep across the shore, carrying the scent of salt and the thrill of motion. It’s the kind of breeze that clears your thoughts and fills your lungs with something wild and free.
Scattered across the beach are rows of naturally polished stones, each one shaped like a sculptor’s dream. Their marbled textures glisten under the sun, arranged almost ceremoniously—as if nature itself had curated an open-air gallery. Walking among them feels like wandering through a living canvas.
Above, the sky is rarely still. Qixingtan lies near a military training zone, and jets streak across the horizon every few minutes. Their thunderous presence adds a surreal contrast: the serenity of the sea below, the power of flight above. It’s a place where tranquility and adrenaline coexist.
