Huangshan Travel Guide: 9 Useful Tips for June–August

1. Summer clothing guide: When climbing Huangshan in the summer, wear long pants and short sleeves during the day and apply sunscreen. You'll be sweating within minutes of starting your climb. However, the temperature at night is around 15 degrees Celsius, so if you want to see the stars and sunrise, remember to bring a jacket to keep warm.
2. Preparations: You can find Huangshan weather conditions, ticket information, and mountain top hotel bookings on Trip.com. Checking the weather forecast in advance is very important. If you plan to stay on the mountain, be sure to book your hotel as early as possible, otherwise you can only keep refreshing the platform to find openings. Note that camping is not allowed in Huangshan Scenic Area.
3. Best sunrise viewing spots: Jade Screen Tower, Qingliang Terrace, White Goose Ridge, Cloud Dispelling Pavilion, and Bright Summit are all excellent locations for watching the sunrise at Huangshan. In addition, Dawn Pavilion, Lion Peak, Ao Fish Peak, and Danxia Peak are also good. It is recommended to choose accommodation near these locations for easy access to sunrise viewing.
4. Hiking route selection: The mountain roads on the front of the mountain are steeper and the steps are denser than those on the back of the mountain. If you choose to hike up the mountain, it is better to go up from the front of the mountain, so that when you go down the mountain, you can take the back of the mountain, which has a gentler slope and is easier.
5. Xihai Grand Canyon travel tips: When the weather is clear, the Xihai Grand Canyon is not to be missed. From Bright Summit, go down through Flying-over Rock and Cloud Dispelling Pavilion to the bottom of the valley. The scenery along the way is spectacular. Then take the mini train up the mountain, and walk for about 10 minutes to reach Baiyun Hotel. Don't take the mini train first and then climb up with great effort, as it will be very physically demanding and exhausting.
6. Check in at Lotus Peak: Tian Du Peak and Lotus Peak are open on a five-year rotation. This year is the last year that Lotus Peak is open, so you can go and check in at the highest peak stone tablet. However, be prepared to wait in line for 3–5 hours. If you are lucky, you can get in line in just over ten minutes.
7. Must-have items list: Disposable raincoat, sunscreen, power bank, water and water cup, snacks and fruits are must-have items. Hiking poles and knee pads can be carried according to personal needs.
8. Supply information: There are supply points along the way where you can get warm water for free, and snacks and drinks are also sold. Most of the mountain top hotels offer buffet lunch and dinner, which can be purchased as needed.
9. Itinerary planning recommendations: If you have plenty of time, arrange a three-day, two-night trip to more fully explore the front, back, and Xihai Grand Canyon. And you can enter the mountain a second time within three days of the first entry (including the day of entry).
