The imperial examination system with a long history, a Binxing Pavilion that tells its story

Introduction: Completed in November of the eighth year of Daoguang (1828). The purpose of constructing this building was to subsidize the scholars of Huizhou Prefecture to participate in the provincial and metropolitan examinations; currently, the building is the site of the Huizhou Ancient Imperial Examination System Exhibition Hall. In July 1990, the Huizhou Municipal People's Government announced that it was selected as the third batch of Huizhou cultural relics protection units. On December 10, 2015, the People's Government of Guangdong Province announced that it was upgraded to the eighth batch of Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Opening hours: 09:00-17:30, closed on Mondays

Thoughts: China’s imperial examination system has a very long history, which is why a saying became popular at that time: “All other pursuits are inferior except for studying.” At that time, the imperial examination system offered a better future, so many people chose to take this path. Although this system no longer exists, we can still recall this history from historical relics.
