Summer vacation is here! Beyond mountains and oceans, you must take your kids to the vast grasslands at least once. Here's a detailed travel guide 👇 Feel free to ask if you have any questions❗️
✅ After arrival, we chose a self-drive tour. Hulunbuir forms a loop route, which can be explored either counterclockwise or clockwise.
✅
**Day 1**: Hailar - Morigele River - Ergun Wetland
**Day 2**: Enhe - Shiwei Ethnic Village - Heishantou
**Day 3**: Heishantou - Horseback riding at sunset - Grass sliding
**Day 4**: Heishantou - Manzhouli - Matryoshka Doll Square
**Day 5**: Mammoth Park - Hulun Lake Stake-Tying Post - Hailar
This is a family-friendly, easygoing self-drive 🚗 loop route.
✅ **Food**
🔺 Must-try beef and lamb! In Hailar, we had shaomai (steamed dumplings) and stuffed tripe! At a homestay in Ergun, we also tried locally grilled Russian kebabs—one skewer was enough to fill you up❗️ Hand-grabbed meat and hotpot were also great. In Manzhouli, you can experience Russian restaurants filled with Russians—definitely worth a visit.
✅ **Accommodation**
Options here are mostly a mix of hotels and homestays. Homestays are mainly divided into:
🔺 **Yurts**
🔺 **Wooden houses (called "Mukeleng")** (For families with kids or elderly, consider carefully—kids love Mukeleng for its novelty, but cleanliness is key❗️ Yurts do have more insects, so weigh the options if you have very young children.)
Book online in advance during peak season.
✅ **Must-do experiences in Inner Mongolia👇**
✔️ See reindeer and sika deer up close
✔️ Let kids play freely in the grasslands and see hay rolls
✔️ Watch a stunning sunset at Morigele River
✔️ Try authentic Russian cuisine
✔️ Enjoy local shaomai, beef, and lamb
✔️ Admire the unique architecture and cuddle grandma’s little 🐑
✅ **Tips:**
Temperature varies greatly between day and night—bring a jacket, mosquito repellent, digestive medicine 💊, and sun protection!
