Review of Ine (伊根町)—a fishing village by the bay in Kyoto

📍 Location & First View

I took a bus from Amanohashidate for about 1 hour and saw the horizon of the bay full of “Funaya”—wooden houses for storing boats on the lower level and living on the upper level—lined up deep along the curve of the bay. It was so beautiful that it reflected in the water like a painting.

🏞 My favorite angle
• The lake along the boat houses, walking along the small streets and seeing the Funaya stacked together with the backdrop of mountains and clear water. This is the moment when I can be quiet, stop breathing, and take endless photos ()
• The angle from Funaya no Sato Park, standing and looking at the village from a high angle with the sea breeze and a small cafe is just right.

⛵ Experience from the sea

Try the local Sea Taxi. I was secretly glad that I chose the small boat type because it took me closer to the houses of the villagers. I could hear the boats murmuring on the water. The staff also handed out bird feed. Feel like it really connects us to the fishing culture

✅ Summary
• Main view: Panorama funaya + bay + mountains
• Activities: Electric bike, Sea Taxi boat, taste fresh sea fruits from the villagers
• Recommended accommodation: Sleep in Funaya, wake up in the morning to see the water + city
• Suitable for: People who like slow travel, like the sea, like the Japanese way of life, and small but deep locations that are complete in one
