A Beautiful Village in Northern Kyoto, 'Ine no Funaya'

Japan Travel Diary 65: Kyoto Edition

📍Ine no Funaya

At the northernmost tip of Kyoto lies a small and picturesque fishing village called 'Ine no Funaya.'

This tranquil and serene spot is characterized by wooden houses lining the sea 🌊, offering a peaceful atmosphere to enjoy.

🚲 You can rent bicycles for free at the tourist information center, making it an ideal place to explore by bike.

If you visit in the early afternoon or morning, you'll find it to be a quiet countryside with hardly any residents around, making it a perfect destination for those who want to experience the authentic charm of rural Japan ☺️.

Located about three hours one-way from Kyoto Station, this northernmost area is best suited for travelers with longer itineraries who can stay overnight nearby ✨.

Since it's in the northern region, it can be quite cold, with snow falling even in March 🥶. If you're visiting outside of spring or summer, be sure to bring a coat.
