Pierre Loti Observatory in Istanbul offers breathtaking views. This place, where you can overlook the city at a glance, was one of the must-visit places during my trip. When you climb up a small hill to the observatory, the endless cityscape unfolds like a painting.

Especially, if you visit in the morning or at sunset, the golden color of the Golden Horn reflecting the sunlight is really beautiful. I took the cable car up late in the evening, and the view from the cable car was also impressive. I recommend enjoying the scenery leisurely while drinking a cup of Turkish coffee at the small cafe on the observatory.

This place is also famous as a place loved by novelist Pierre Loti. Since it is an observatory named after him, it also felt literary. I liked that it was a little away from the city and had a quiet feeling. If you come to Istanbul, enjoy the night view from Pierre Loti Observatory!
