Hangzhou Park Hyatt is one of Yabu Pushelberg's earlier hotel projects in mainland China, marking Park Hyatt's debut in the region and also one of my personal favorites among the Park Hyatt properties. Later works by Y&P, such as Shenzhen Park Hyatt and Guangzhou Rosewood, share the same design lineage and also align perfectly with my tastes. Like other urban Park Hyatt properties, Hangzhou Park Hyatt boasts a commanding view of the city's magnificent skyline.
The public areas of Hangzhou Park Hyatt are grand, while the rooms are meticulously detailed. From the ground floor lobby to the 37th-floor check-in area, the high ceilings combined with Yabu's signature neo-Chinese design—featuring marble or metal light fixtures extending to the ceiling—create an aura of opulent grandeur. The rooms are adorned with plum blossom motifs and teal accents against dark wood finishes. The plum blossom lighting on the headboard only reveals itself at night, a subtle yet thoughtful touch.
The trendy bar on the 48th floor features a viral transparent glass floor, which even gave me, someone unafraid of heights, a bit of a thrill.
Below the suites, the Premier room type is a river-view room on the same floor as the executive suites. Thanks to the presence of a terrace on this floor, the room extends outward, making it longer than the same room type on other floors. Designed as an open-plan space, aside from the sleeping area, the other half by the floor-to-ceiling windows is arranged as a sofa lounge area. However, this room type is often booked long-term by postnatal care centers.
