Explore the Old Town of Istanbul, steeped in Old World charm and full of stunning architecture. Visit the world-famous Hagia Sophia (about 25 EUR) and marvel at the mixture of Byzantine Christian and Islamic influences in the mosaics. Visit the Blue Mosque (free) and its many minarets, and learn more about Islamic architecture and design from the friendly staff as you walk through its halls. Walk along Mehmet Akif Ersoy Park and admire the beautiful buildings around you, including Sultan Ahmed’s tomb where you can pay your respects. Do look out for the Egyptian obelisk, erected in 390 AD and stop by the Egyptian bazaar for some gifts/shopping.
