Shimonada Station is an unmanned station located in Iyo City, Ehime Prefecture.
It is famous for its posters for the Seishun 18 Ticket and as a location for movies and dramas,
so tourists from all over Japan come to Shimonada Station!
When you stand on the platform,
the beautiful Seto Inland Sea spreads out before your eyes.

It was once said to be the station closest to the sea in Japan,
but now a road has been opened between the sea and the railway tracks,
so it is no longer the closest station to the sea.

Even so, the beauty of the sea seen from the platform has not changed,
and it is a spectacular view that is worth getting off at least once.

To access Shimonada Station,
take about an hour by train from Matsuyama Station, where Dogo Onsen is located.
However, if you go to Shimonada Station by train,
there are not many trains that stop at Shimonada Station,
so you may end up waiting for 2-3 hours.

I visited Shimonada Station in a rental car.
There is a parking lot near the station that can accommodate several cars,
but if it is crowded you can also park in the temporary parking lot.

Also, near Shimonada Station there is a cafe called "Shimonada Coffee", marked by a cute white trailer,
where you can drink coffee and mandarin orange juice.
It is only open on Saturdays, Sundays, and holidays.
