What is this adorable place? 😍 It felt like I was traveling within my trip! This is the shopping mall inside the Grand Hyatt Hotel in New Jeju City, South Korea.
Even at night or on rainy days, it’s great to casually wander around. 😊 Since I was staying at the Hyatt, I enjoyed going there to grab some late-night snacks or spending my free time exploring.
There were unique dessert shops and stylish café spaces too.
The stone statues are called Dol Hareubang, considered the guardian deities of Jeju. You can find them in various sizes all over the island! They’re kind of like Okinawa’s Shisa. 😄
Before visiting, I thought, "Hmm, okay," but after seeing them repeatedly during my trip, they became oddly familiar and nostalgic by the time I returned home.
Come to think of it, Shisa felt the same way at first. Living in mainland Japan, I wasn’t particularly fond of things like lion dances (haha). But somehow, things from your travel destination seem more appealing, probably because the trip itself was so special.
