Church tour in Jerusalem, Israel

🇮🇱-1

Since we mentioned the Church of the Nativity in #Bethlehem where Jesus was born, we have to mention the Church of the Holy Sepulcher in #Jerusalem in #Israel.

Many #Christians believe that the place where Jesus Christ was crucified as described in the New Testament is the foundation of the church and the location of Golgotha. The Church of the Holy Sepulchre has been a holy place protected by Christianity since its completion in the 4th century AD. However, six churches, including the Roman Catholic Church, the Greek Orthodox Church, the Armenian Church, the Syriac Orthodox Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church of Egypt and the Ethiopian Orthodox Theasidian Church, all believe that they have the right to manage the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. Therefore, there are regular disputes and even serious physical conflicts between the sects. Therefore, the Ottoman Turkish ruler Ottoman III issued a royal decree in 1757 ordering all denominations in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre to "maintain the status quo." Hence the legend of the ladder that cannot be moved (Google “status quo ladder”).

After many destructions, reconstructions and expansions, the interior of the Church of the Holy Sepulchre has become more complex, but it has also added a lot of history that is worth understanding in depth. The current appearance is more Crusader style. Therefore, whether you are a believer or not, this is a pilgrimage site that you must visit once in your lifetime. In addition to being full of historical context, it can also make you feel rich in your heart.
