The Tomb of King Jangsu (also known as the General's Tomb) is located to the right of the Tomb of King Gwanggaeto the Great, the burial site of Goguryeo's 19th ruler. This tomb is where King Jangsu, the son of King Gwanggaeto, rests. The structure is built with solid and neatly stacked granite stones arranged in seven tiers, making it the most complete form of a stone mound tomb.
King Jangsu commemorated his fatherβs achievements by erecting a large stele next to the Tomb of King Gwanggaeto. He implemented a southern expansion policy on the Korean Peninsula, relocated the capital from Guknaeseong to Pyongyang, and reigned for an impressive 78 years, one of the longest reigns in history.
