Unveiling Yongzhou's Best-Kept Secrets: Prepare to Be Enchanted! (Complete with a Comprehensive Transportation Guide)
Sisters, I've discovered some hidden gems in Yongzhou that are absolutely breathtaking! The best part is, they're not crowded during holidays, parking is easy, and the entrance fees are super affordable—some are even free! Save this guide and come explore with me!
1. Gou Lan Yao Village
Entrance fee: CNY35
Transportation: Located 30 km from Jiangyong County, about a 50-minute drive.
Highlights: The village is surrounded by layers of lush green mountains, with clear springs flowing through it. Ancient roads run alongside towering Yao platforms, as if narrating the village's long history and endless charm. Here, you can experience the unique allure of the original ecology, as if traveling back in time.
2. Shang Gantang Ancient Village
Entrance fee: Free
Transportation: Located 20 km from Jiangyong County, a 40-minute drive. It's only 10 km from Gou Lan Yao Village, making it very convenient to visit both.
Highlights: The village has many historical sites, with well-preserved pavilions and towers. The landscape is picturesque, with crisscrossing paths through the fields. The ancient buildings exude a rustic charm, and the sounds of chickens crowing and dogs barking create a scene reminiscent of Tao Yuanming's Peach Blossom Spring. Strolling here feels like time has slowed down.
3. Panwang Palace
Entrance fee: Free
Transportation: Located in Jianghua County, accessible by bus routes 2 or 3. It's perfect for a leisurely stroll, taking about 1.5 hours.
Highlights: Stepping into Panwang Palace is like entering a historical scroll of the Yao people. The further you go, the more you'll see the smiling face of Panwang, the Yao ancestors, greeting you in the hall, as if telling you ancient stories of the Yao people. The entire Panwang Palace, viewed from a distance, is well-proportioned, with red walls and glazed tiles, resplendent and magnificent. It's both simple and elegant, with carved beams and painted pillars, full of rich ethnic characteristics, truly deserving of its title as the No. 1 Palace of the Yao people in China!
4. Lanshan Valley
Entrance fee: Free
Transportation: Located 20 km from Lanshan County, a 40-minute drive.
Highlights: The scenic area features mountains, canyons, seas of clouds, natural waterfalls, and alpine hot springs. The famous "Three-Part Stone" and "Incense Burner Stone" are also in this area. The vegetation coverage here is very high, with rare plants such as the millennium Chinese yew and ancient ginkgo. The core tourism resources of the scenic area are rich and diverse, including the "Incense Burner Cloud Sea Rhododendron Valley," "Cherry Blossom Valley," thousands of acres of "Xiangfei Red Leaf Valley," and tens of thousands of acres of "Yalan Bamboo Sea," each of which is stunning!
Travel Tips:
1. It's recommended to drive, as it's more convenient, especially for visiting Lanshan Valley, where public transportation is not very developed.
2. Gou Lan Yao Village and Shang Gantang Ancient Village can be visited on the same day to save time.
3. Panwang Palace is ideal for taking photos. You can wear light-colored clothes for a better effect.
