I was lucky enough to see the stunning rime in Jilin. Winter in Jilin is truly a magical season. When the cold wind blows, the water vapor from the Songhua River condenses in the cold air, forming the Jilin rime, which is known as one of the "Four Natural Wonders of China."
Wusong Island is located in Wulajie Manchu Town, Longtan District, Jilin City, and is one of the best places to see the rime. Zengtongtun on the island is famous for its unique tree shapes and frost-covered willows along the river. Here are some travel tips:
Best season: December is a great time to visit. The ideal viewing time is from 7:00 to 11:30 every day.
Clothing: Due to the extreme cold in winter, it is necessary to wear warm clothing, including down jackets, warm hats, gloves, scarves, and cold-proof shoes.
Transportation: From Jilin City, you can choose to drive or take a bus. The ticket price for Wusong Island is CNY 39.9 for adults, and CNY 74.9 including the ferry ticket.
Accommodation: You can choose to stay in Zengtongtun or Hantun on the island and experience the local farmhouse kang bed. The price is about CNY 100–150, including meals.
