Jinan Stop 3 | Daming Lake

Daming Lake is perfect when lotus flowers bloom in summer. As the saying goes, "Lotus flowers on three sides, willows on one, half the city is mountains, half the city is lake." In spring, willows sway in the breeze, ducks swim in the lake, birds soar overhead, and tourists stroll along the lakeside enjoying the beautiful scenery. With various photo spots and rest areas, time seems to slow down by the lake.

Route 1: Enter through the South Gate where you'll find the boat dock. Make a reservation, choose your seat, and wait for departure. The lake views from the boat are beautiful. The boat ride lasts 20 minutes.

Route 2: After the boat dock, follow the lakeside path eastward to reach the Chaoran Tower. The tower is especially beautiful at night, best visited when the lights first come on.

Chaoran Tower requires an admission fee. You can climb up to the sixth floor for panoramic views of the lake and mountains.
After leaving Chaoran Tower, continue along the path to visit Zeng Gong Memorial Hall (free admission), North Water Gate, and other attractions. Some venues charge admission fees; check current notices for details.

You might want to follow my example: find a small teahouse by the lake, watch the swaying willows with Chaoran Tower in view, and take a short break.

Walking around the entire lake is about 4.6 km. If you have time and energy, take a leisurely stroll around Daming Lake.

Tips:
1. There are many willows around the lake; wear a mask to prevent allergies.
2. Lakeside snack shops are relatively expensive. I didn't find any chain restaurants, so bring snacks or buy food in advance if planning to stay all day.
3. Boat options include traditional-style boats at 50 yuan per person, or electric boats you can drive yourself at 200 yuan per hour with a 300 yuan deposit. Self-driving boats are recommended for a better experience.
