Yanxia Village beneath Jinyun Rock

Yanxia Village, a natural village under the jurisdiction of Huzhen Town, Jinyun County, Lishui City, Zhejiang Province, is a traditional Chinese village located between the hills and plateaus in the northeastern part of Huzhen Town, Jinyun County, with an area of 4.5 square kilometers.

Surrounded by mountains and bamboo seas, Yanxia Village gets its name for being situated below the 'Hundred Zhang Rock' of the Cang Ridge. The village is nestled between two mountains and at the intersection of three waters, with houses adjacent to each other and oriented according to the creek, forming a street pattern based on the direction of the stream. Yanxia Village is characterized by stone dwellings, integrating stone houses, stone bridges, stone paths, and ancient mills, highlighting the distinctive features of Yanxia Stone Village. It exhibits the typical style of stone dwellings in the mid-southern mountainous region of Zhejiang and is a concentrated and well-preserved traditional mountain stone dwelling village in the province, known as 'the number one stone village in the south of the Yangtze River'.

On November 17, 2014, Yanxia Village was announced as part of the third batch of traditional Chinese villages by seven departments including the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, the Ministry of Culture, the State Administration of Cultural Heritage, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Land and Resources, the Ministry of Agriculture, and the National Tourism Administration.
