Zhangshan Grand Canyon is located in the eastern part of Jixi County, Xuancheng City, Anhui Province, in the Dazhang Mountain. Dazhang Mountain is a United Nations ecological demonstration area with a forest coverage rate of 97%. It is one of the few United Nations plant gene banks, with 43 rare and precious species.

Dazhang Mountain was formerly known as Santianzi Du, Sanwang Mountain, and Zhangfeng. During the Spring and Autumn Period, Wu and Yue used this as a boundary, and the Baizhang Rock, a single giant rock, was a natural boundary marker. In the Qin Dynasty, Zhang County was established and named after the mountain.

After billions of years of evolution, a long canyon with towering rocks and overlapping peaks was formed in Dazhang Mountain. The canyon stream flows down from the Tianchi, winding through the canyon, twisting and turning, sometimes slow and sometimes fast, forming waterfalls of various sizes along the way. Below the waterfalls are pools of different sizes and shapes, with deep pools as clear as dye and shallow water as clear as crystal.

Zhangshan Grand Canyon is the southern gate of the national nature reserve - Qingliang Peak. The canyon is full of strange rocks, and the currently developed tourist area is 2.5 kilometers long, accounting for only about one-sixth of the entire canyon. Along the way, there are many unique and beautiful landscapes, such as Huangbantan, Great Man Portrait Stone, Tianmen Zhongkai, Xueyan Waterfall, Huangshan Songke Pine, Hulutan, Baizhang Rock, and Buddha Light.
