Just across the causeway, Johor Bahru makes for a perfect short escape. On this trip, I explored a mix of culture, food, and seaside relaxation — all in a weekend!

🙏 Xin Gong Miao (Temple)
Hidden behind a Caltex station in Taman Perling, this temple may not look grand from the outside, but stepping in, I felt a serene, spiritual atmosphere. Incense smoke curled upward as locals came to pray, giving me a glimpse of the strong community roots here. A peaceful stop that grounded the trip before diving into the city buzz.

🍲 Restoran Hong Gor
For lunch, I couldn’t resist the famous fish head hotpot. The broth was rich and comforting, filled with chunks of fresh fish and vegetables. The locals swear by it, and now I see why — it’s hearty, flavorful, and perfect for sharing.

🏖️ Forest City Beach
In the afternoon, I headed to Forest City Beach. Although manmade, it’s a nice spot to stroll with soft sands and open sea views. The skyline of futuristic high-rises made the scene feel unique, like a city-meets-nature postcard.

🌊 Stulang Beach Night Walk
As night fell, I took a relaxing walk at Stulang Beach. The sea breeze was refreshing, and what caught my eye was the RTS (Rapid Transit System) link construction in progress — soon connecting JB to Singapore more seamlessly. Watching the lights shimmer across the water while locals enjoyed their evening made it a surprisingly atmospheric spot.

🏨 Stay: Holiday Inn Express & Suites Johor Bahru by IHG
After a full day, I checked into the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in the heart of JB. Clean, modern, and super comfortable — exactly what you need after walking and exploring. Waking up to the city skyline view was a great way to wrap up the trip.

💡 Tip: A weekend is just enough for this combo — temple, food, seaside, and a comfy stay — but JB has many more hidden gems if you have extra time!
