[Kagoshima Prefecture] Hirakawa Zoo, the nature-filled zoo with the largest number of koalas in Japan🐨

Hirakawa Zoo in Kagoshima Prefecture is the zoo with the largest number of koalas in Japan. 🐨

With the concept of "a zoo where you can learn and play in a fun way", it is the only place in Kyushu where you can see koalas, and it is a very popular zoo that attracts many tourists from outside the prefecture!

As we passed through the main gate with its eye-catching colorful arch, we were greeted by a breeding area that resembled the African grasslands where zebras, ostriches, giraffes, and other animals live, with Sakurajima and Kagoshima Bay in the background. 🦒

The zoo is so large that shuttle buses run on different routes, and it is a mammoth zoo that breeds a wide variety of animals and creatures, with over 900 animals of about 130 species. 👀

Many rare animals that you don't usually get to see, such as white tigers and polar bears, are also kept here, and the koalas, which are the main attraction of this zoo, are the largest number of koalas in the country, and we were able to see their adorable appearance up close. 🐨
*Like a salaryman after work, we made eucalyptus leaves into our beds. The way he was sleeping soundly was so cute✨

The Amami rabbit and the Blue Jay, which are endangered species endemic to Amami Oshima, are also kept here, and I personally enjoyed being able to learn about the appearance and ecology of these precious creatures😌

There are also many hands-on events, so it's definitely a recommended spot for families✌️
