A trip to Yogyakarta to see Borobudur and the Water Castle ~ Relax for a few days first at the Melia Hotel!

After spending ten days in Surabaya, I took the train to the second stop of my return trip to Indonesia: Yogyakarta, staying in a penthouse suite at the Melia Purosani Hotel in Yogyakarta. Yogyakarta, Indonesia ~ Deep in the heart of central Java, nestled among mountains and tropical rainforests, the mysterious ancient city atmosphere makes this city stand alone. Undeniably, people come to Yogyakarta almost exclusively for Borobudur! The construction of Borobudur dates back to the 9th century AD. It was buried under volcanic ash for hundreds of years due to a volcanic eruption and was only excavated in the 19th century. Its magnificent sight inspires humility. Watching the sunrise and sunset here is the purest experience.

The Water Castle was once the private garden of the Sultan's palace, known as the "Water Castle," built in the 18th century by a Portuguese architect. It combines magnificent European, Javanese, and Chinese styles, and its exquisite craftsmanship is astonishing ~ After planning the itinerary, relax for a few days at the Melia Purosani Hotel in Yogyakarta before visiting these two places! The last time I came to Yogyakarta was eight years ago, staying at the Sheraton, Hyatt, Amanjiwo, and ~ This time I’m trying a few different hotels. Melia’s location is very convenient, within walking distance to the Yogyakarta Sultan’s Palace and the Water Castle.

The Melia Hotel Yogyakarta is full of rich tropical rainforest vibes. The most exciting part is the hotel’s El Patio Restaurant outdoor dining area ~ Dining in the lush garden, experiencing authentic Javanese style. My room faces the hotel’s executive lounge ~ Every afternoon during cocktail happy hour, I can enjoy the charming sunset and evening glow, adding a romantic touch to my holiday time!
