[Kanagawa Prefecture/Tomb of Minamoto no Yoritomo] A place to commemorate Yoritomo

Beyond Shirahata Shrine, which is associated with Minamoto no Yoritomo, lies his grave at the top of a long flight of stone steps.
It was built in 1779 by Shimazu Shigehide, the lord of the Satsuma domain. The stone tower was moved from Shochojuin Temple.

Apart from Yoritomo's grave, the place is spacious but actually quite bleak. It is a quiet place a little distance from the glamorous Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
