At Zeniarai Benzaiten Ugafuku Shrine, a popular spot that you can't miss when sightseeing in Kamakura, you can enjoy a special visit that is a little different from the usual.
You wash your money in the pure water of one of Kamakura's famous springs and pray for an increase in your fortune.
It seems to get quite crowded during the day, so this time I visited at 8:00, the opening time. There were already a few groups of visitors, but I was able to visit at my own pace.
It's about a 25-minute walk from the west exit of Kamakura Station, but there is a long uphill climb to the shrine, so comfortable shoes are a must. If you are a group of two or more, it's convenient to take a taxi just for the trip there. It took about five minutes by car.
It was a wonderful shrine that I'm glad I went to.
