[Dankazura/Kanagawa Prefecture] A 600m long cherry blossom tunnel

Dankazu, the approach to Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine in Kamakura, Kanagawa Prefecture

𓂃◌𓈒𓐍 𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃◌𓈒𓐍𓂃
Dankazu was built in 1182.
The second torii gate is a short walk from Kamakura Station.
The 588m approach from there to the third torii gate is called Dankazu.
It is said to have been built by Minamoto no Yoritomo as a prayer for the safe delivery of his wife, Masako. (There are various theories.)

It is said that there are about 180 cherry trees, planted on both sides of the approach, making it a veritable tunnel of cherry blossoms.
It is so beautiful that you will want to go back and forth many times.
The evening lighting is also wonderful.

What I personally found to be the most beautiful was the view of the shrine building through the cherry blossoms just before leaving the approach to the shrine, and the view of Dankuzura from the top of the stone steps of Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine.
Simply stunning! That's all I can say!
