Classic Itinerary Recommendations 📸
Morning - Around Kamakura Station ⛩️
Komachi-dori Street 🏙️
Upon arriving at JR Kamakura Station, start your day by exploring Komachi-dori, a lively street full of traditional Japanese shops and eateries. Don’t miss Giraffa, a popular spot often with a line.
Adjacent to Komachi-dori, there’s a long sakura (cherry blossom) avenue that’s perfect for a photo session! It’s a hidden gem just on the right side of the street.
Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine ⛩️
Walk through Komachi-dori and you’ll reach Tsurugaoka Hachimangu, Kamakura’s iconic shrine. During spring, the surrounding cherry blossoms create a beautiful scene, making it a perfect spot to admire and photograph.
Afternoon - Enoshima & Along the Enoden Line 🚃
Kamakura High School Station 🏫
For fans of the anime Slam Dunk, head to Kamakura High School Station, the setting for the famous scene where Sakuragi Hanamichi waves to Haruko Akagi. If it's crowded, walk about 300 meters ahead to find a quieter spot with a similar view.
Enoshima 🌅
In the late afternoon, head to Enoshima island. From the Enoshima lighthouse, enjoy a breathtaking view of the Shonan coastline at sunset, and feel the refreshing evening sea breeze.
Travel Tips 🚄
From Tokyo:
Consider purchasing the Odakyu Enoshima-Kamakura Pass (approximately 1,470 yen), which covers round-trip fare from Shinjuku to Fujisawa and unlimited rides on the Enoshima Electric Railway. Alternatively, you can take the JR Line from Tokyo Station to Kamakura (about 1 hour 15 minutes), then hop on the Enoden.
