Kamakura, a lovely city near Tokyo 🚃

Kamakura is a lovely city near Tokyo, perfect for a relaxing day trip.

We purchased a pass from Shinjuku Station. We chose the Enoshima-Kamakura Freepass, which we purchased at the Odakyu Sightseeing Service Center (Shinjuku West Exit). It cost 1,640 yen and allows free travel on the Enoden Line in Kamakura. No need to purchase an additional ticket. It's very convenient.

Pros of this pass: Great value if you plan to visit multiple spots in Enoshima and Kamakura. Unlimited rides on the Enoden for the day.

Very convenient from Shinjuku, no advance booking required.
If you're planning a day trip from Tokyo, this pass is a great option.

Our Kamukura itinerary began with:

🚃: Hase Station

- Kotokuin Temple, home to the Great Buddha, is a symbol of the city. General admission is 200 yen, with an additional 20 yen for the Big Buddha statue. Opening hours: 8:00 AM - 4:45 PM

- KANNON COFFEE is a cafe serving desserts and ice cream. Their signature dish is a fluffy crepe topped with a Big Buddha cookie, fresh seasonal fruits, and a rich yogurt drizzle (exclusive to this branch). Opening hours: 10:00 AM - 6:00 PM

- Hasedera Temple is the oldest temple in the city. Here, you can admire ancient Japanese architecture and the beauty of a rare ancient garden. Admission is 400 yen for adults and 200 yen for children. Opening hours: 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM

🚃: Kamakurakokökõ-Mae Station

- This is a popular check-in spot that anyone visiting must not miss. The view of the sea with the train passing by is truly stunning. And anyone who's a fan of the anime "Slam Dunk" will definitely remember this scene.

🚃: Fujisawa Station

- This is the last station in the city. It's home to a variety of shops and restaurants, both savory and sweet. It's also a great place to buy souvenirs and collectibles featuring Kamakura details.

🚃: Shichirigahama Station

- Shichirigahama Beach was our last stop to watch the sunset before heading back to Tokyo. What's special about this beach is its black color. It's a natural black color, and it's beautiful in its own way. You can even see Mount Fuji from here. Unfortunately, the sky was overcast on the day we went, which was a real shame. It was still a beautiful view.

If you're looking for a city near Tokyo to visit, I highly recommend it. It's easy to get to, and the city is lovely and the atmosphere is amazing.
