Just a short stroll from Tsurugaoka Hachimangu Shrine, we discovered Kominka Café Yukinoshita, a charming spot that opened only last month. Nestled inside a traditional Japanese house, this café welcomes you not through the front door—but via the glass veranda, shoes on, for a casual and cozy vibe.

We ordered a café au lait, rooibos tea, and their signature sundae with coffee cream, banana, and cassis. The sundae came in a generous portion and was a perfect mix of tart, sweet, and creamy. Sitting in a warm tatami room, gazing out over a peaceful garden, we enjoyed the quiet retreat from Kamakura’s busy streets.
