Adventure Awaits in Kamikochi’s Alpine Paradise 🏔️☀️🚶♂️ Ready for a hike among pristine rivers and towering peaks?
Kamikochi in Japan is a trekking gem where nature stuns at every turn!
We set out early with a tour bus (3+3hrs journeys from and back to Nagoya Station) and managed to reach the Kappa tourist popular trail starting point by 12pm. Hike for 3hours with sufficient in-between scenic photo-takings opportunities.
Set out along the iconic Azusa River trail—sunny mornings here paint the mountains with golden glare and shimmering water. Don’t miss picture-perfect shots from Kappa Bridge: look out for sun-sparkled peaks, lush forest backdrops, and the gentle flow of the river (sunny days highlight the vivid, “nature-vision” colors!). Push further towards Myojin Pond for quiet reflections and Insta-worthy blue-green waters framed by picturesque trees.
Must-do experiences for nature lovers: Snap sweeping panoramas at Taisho Pond (amazing on clear days), tackle the gentle hike up to Tokusawa and rest at the scenic lodge, and keep your eyes peeled for wildlife in the alpine meadows—early mornings best for birdwatching. 🐒 🐵 Monkeys are frequent sightings.
Tips: Wear sturdy hiking shoes/sneakers and bring layers—the weather can turn fast, especially by mid-afternoon, even if your day starts off sunny! A lightweight rain jacket is way better than an umbrella if the clouds roll in. Hydrate often (rivers and lakes are dazzling but not drinkable!).
Precautions: There’s limited cell signal, so download maps ahead. Be cautious near water—slippery stones by lakes and rivers. And always respect signage for wildlife and nature protection.
The mountain trails are open to visitors only from April to November, 7am-7pm.
