A Serendipitous Encounter with Kampot: A Leisurely Stay at Montagne
"Small towns have many stories, filled with joy and laughter. If you come to a small town, you'll gain so much." As the melody of "Small Town Story" played in my ears, I embarked on a journey to Kampot, Cambodia, and checked in to the Montagne Residence.
Stepping into the hotel, I was immediately greeted by the Southeast Asian-style decor. The wooden furniture paired with colorful fabrics and the locally-inspired artwork on the walls—every detail exuded a unique charm.
The room I checked in to was a cozy one-bedroom apartment with a well-thought-out layout. The living room and bedroom were connected, with excellent natural light. The beautiful view from the window was refreshing.
The hotel offers a variety of recreational activities. Swim in the rooftop infinity pool and take in the panoramic views of Kampot, or spend a leisurely time reading in the tranquil garden, accompanied by the fragrance of flowers.
The dining experience was even more unforgettable. The restaurant specializes in Cambodian cuisine. The fish amok was tender and delicious, with the unique aroma of spices bursting on the tip of my tongue. The dining environment was elegant and comfortable, accompanied by soft music.
With an average cost of about USD 50–80, you can taste authentic cuisine and enjoy quality service, making it a great value for money.
Other tips: The hotel thoughtfully provides a free bicycle rental service, allowing you to cycle through the streets and alleys of Kampot and experience the local customs and culture. In the evening, you can also have a drink on the hotel's terrace, accompanied by moonlight and a gentle breeze. Here, every moment is a gift of gentle time. I came for the song, but the wonderful experience at the hotel left a deeper impression of this city in my heart.
