Garden and teahouse in the free zone within the 21st Century Museum of Contemporary Art

Originating from Negishi, Tokyo, as the retirement home of the 12th lord of the Kaga domain, it was relocated to Kanazawa City and is open to the public free of charge.

The interior is also open to the public, and gazing at the dry landscape garden from there is soothing.

The museum owner will gladly explain everything to you.

It was constructed without nails, using a snap-fit construction method.
It was once disassembled by a shrine carpenter,
but then reassembled and brought here.
The glass in the foreground is from that time and has survived earthquakes and other disasters, according to the carpenter.
