The Old Takao Station Story House formerly served as the Takao Station during the Japanese colonial era and was also Kaohsiung's earliest railway station. Located on Hama Star, it served as a major export destination for agricultural products such as sugarcane. Following the Republic of China, it became the Taiwan Railways' Kaohsiung Port Station. However, with the decline of agricultural exports and the construction of the No. 2 Ship Channel at Kaohsiung Port, most supplies were diverted from the docks at Xiaogang and Qianzhen, leading to the decline of the station. The site was later transformed into a story house, preserving the historical memory of that time and allowing the public to experience the prosperity of that era.
