Kathmandu Marriott Hotel
The hotel is very, very, very new. It's a breath of fresh air in Kathmandu's less-than-ideal hotel scene. The service is good, with someone accompanying you to your room with your luggage. The toiletries are from the UK brand This Works, and I, who am extremely picky about shampoo, am a big fan. It's worth mentioning that the water in Kathmandu is mainly groundwater, and the water in the budget hotel I stayed in before had a noticeable odor, which still haunts me. But the Marriott's water had no odor at all, and it was so comfortable to take a hot shower with strong water flow in water-scarce Nepal. The lounge doesn't have many food options. The food is mainly various Nepalese-style porridges. I didn't try much. They offer a few basic cocktails. The tea bags are from the local brand Rakura, and the lemon honey flavor is quite impressive, which I think is quite rare. When I asked if I could take a few more bags, the waiter directly opened a big package and gave me a lot. Thumbs up.
The best part is! Because I was lazy, I didn't download any ride-hailing apps, so I relied on the hotel to call a car for me or hailed a cab directly, and as expected, I was ripped off. During my entire 8-day, 7-night trip, only the staff at Kathmandu Marriott Hotel would proactively help me bargain, and they even suggested that if I wasn't in a hurry, they could use their ride-hailing app to call a car for me, which would be much cheaper.
