Albania: From City Streets to Sandy Shores

Tirana is a beautiful and historic capital of Albania, full of charm and cultural relevance. While English isn’t widely spoken, Google Translate is your best friend—especially with cab drivers—to avoid miscommunication. The city is affordable, easy to navigate with buses, and offers delicious food (don’t miss the baklava and tomato-egg dish!). Radio, in Tirana was the name of the bar we accidentally discovered but it was so lovely, we ended up going there twice. Durres Beach was peaceful and pretty, though Albania has better beach options if you’re looking to explore more. Our beach ‘golem long beach’, near Durres was quiet but isolated, and getting back in the evening was tricky—so plan transport in advance (especially check the last bus timings). Overall, a lovely trip worth experiencing!
